Clear Path to progression

There are no shortcuts in tattooing. Real progress comes from dedication, practice and learning from people who live the craft every day.

That's why every Monumental course is taught by profressional tattoo artists who spend hteir weekdays tattooing clients and their weekends sharing their knowledge with aspiring artists.

Some of instructors even began their own journey as Monumental Academy students before returning to teach the next generation.

That is the Monumental difference.

EVERYTHING YOUR WONDERING...

Am I good enough?

If you have the drive to learn, the patience to practice, and a willingness to accept feedback, you are absolutely good enough. Imposter syndrome is completely normal when starting out. Our courses are designed to take the guesswork out of your progression, breaking complex techniques down into manageable steps. You bring the dedication; we’ll provide the roadmap.

Do I need to be able to draw?

Yes, having a solid foundation in drawing is highly recommended. Tattooing is essentially drawing on a moving, breathing, curved canvas. While you don't need to be a master fine artist, an understanding of line weight, shading, and composition is crucial. During the course, we will teach you how to translate your existing art skills into tattoo-friendly designs that age well in the skin.

Am I too old to start?

Absolutely not. There is no age limit on starting a career in tattooing. In fact, many successful artists transition into the industry later in life, bringing with them a level of patience, focus, and professionalism that studio owners highly value. Whether you are 18 or 50, if your hands are steady and your mind is open, you belong here.

How much practise will I need?

Short answer: a lot. Tattooing relies heavily on muscle memory, and building that takes time. Expect to put in hundreds of hours of drawing and practicing on synthetic skin before you ever touch a live client. Even after you complete the course, the best artists in the world practice constantly. This isn't just a job; it’s a lifelong craft.

What happens after the course?

You won't just be left to figure things out on your own. You will leave the course with a strong foundational portfolio, a deep understanding of bloodborne pathogens and cross-contamination, and the technical skills of a apprentice artist. We also guide you on the business side of the industry, giving you a clear, actionable roadmap for how to confidently approach studios for an apprenticeship or residency.

EVERY PROFESSIONAL TATTOO ARTIST STARTED SOMEWHERE.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THEY TOOK THE FIRST STEP.

If you've always wondered whether tattooing could become more than a hobby, there's never been a better time to begin.
